This DISCOVERY variety will not be
offered for sale until after it appears in Hugh Shulls new Confederate
Currency reference book due out 2009. Fibers on this and other CSA
notes are Red Silk. These threads are Yellow! Test are currently
being conducted to see if we can tell whether these are "natural" or dyed
fibers and perhaps whether they are silk or some other type of thread.
Professor Gene Hall, head of the analytical chemistry department at
Rutgers is conducting the tests on this note. CSA

T63 50¢ B485 Is this note really Gem CU 65?
It has extra paper that is disturbed under the vignette. I
think it was printed and later some foreign object moved leaving a small
white spot. This is a tiny imperfection and PMG
missed making a note of it. Whether you go with PMG's grade or my
grade before I had it slabbed, I called the note Choice CU, it is
way above the quality of any Unc/Cu note seen these days! PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ $125.00
